Description
Finally, I'm done with this piece!! Painting the butterflies' patterns is so time consuming, that I had to start duplicating them because I lost patience painting the same pattern. Here is the originally sketch I did last year 25.media.tumblr.com/ea926d7c56… . I didn't do much then out of procrastination, but I decided to pick it up this year. I'm pretty happy with the results. I am definitely going to start adding surrealism into my art.
The idea behind this piece came from experience I had at school. I came across a dying Western Tiger Swallowtail butterfly that was trying to fly, but couldn't because the weather was too cold for it. I then picked up the butterfly and placed it on top of a rock, for it to have a better range to fly. Unfortunately, when it tied to fly it fell off the rock and I just couldn't leave it there, especially when a lot people were around, I was afraid someone would squish it. So, I took it with me and held it in my hands while I was waiting for my ride. It was a lovely butterfly but the species is coldblooded and it needs the heat to survive.
